Promise ring are items of jewelry offered as gifts and are commonly exchanged between young people as a sign of their commitment to each other. They are also known as friendship or pre-engagement.

The ring is not required to be worn on any particular finger but if it is an indication of pre-engagement – the couple are ‘promised’ to each other – it will often be worn on the left hand, especially on the finger. However, it often happens that the middle finger on the left hand or the  finger on the right hand is preferred so it will not be confused with an engagement ring.

The giving of promise rings by a woman to a man became increasingly popular during the 20th century, and since, to indicate his commitment. Promise and friendship ring are tangible symbols of the level of commitment that those in a relationship have declared for each other.

We all love our diamond and gemstone jewelry don’t we? So here’s a short guide to show you how to properly care for your precious jewelry.

First of all, if you have a diamond or any gemstone ring, you will need to be extra careful when you take off or put on the ring. When you’re not wearing your ring, a good place to keep it is either in a safe or a  armoire. You may also get locking armoires if you’re worried about someone pinching your ring jewelry.

Remember, although gemstones are hard, another gemstone could easily scratch the other. Either use a armoire or keep each piece separately in little cloth pouches.

If you’re frequently wearing your wedding band, or any other gold ring for that matter, you need to clean it frequently to maintain it’s luster.
